Antique Biedermeier Double Perfume Casket
It's rare to find antique perfume caskets in original condition. This is a Circa 1840's Biedermeier double perfume casket. It has a beautiful burl wood ebony trimmed box with the original key and the lock works. Inside the fitted case are the two original scent bottles and stoppers. Each bottle is a little over 3 1/4 inches tall with the stopper. Both bottles retain most of their gilt decoration with a minimal amount of wear commiserate for the age of the piece. One bottle has very slight wear to the bottom side of the stopper and the other bottle has a slight flea bite to the side of the top rim. Both bottles have polished pontils. The box measures 4 1/2 inches tall by 2 3/4 inches deep and 4 1/2 inches wide. The cover closes tight and the lock is in working order. This would make an exceptional addition to a curated collection.
