This is a very fine example of sterling silver match safes from the Art Nouveau Period. It is Circa 1890 and has a beautiful reclining woman surrounded by a raised floral design on both sides. It is stamped sterling and the top opens and closes crisp and clean. This has a small silver loop attached to the cover and is accompanied with a modern sterling chain so it can be worn and would make a great pill box. The match safe measures 2 3/4 inches to the top of the bale by 1 3/4 inches wide. The chain measures 18 inches and the entire piece is in excellent original condition. This is a beautiful piece that has all of the naturalistic qualities of the Art Nouveau Period.
