Antique Circa 1890 French Porcelain Scenic Jewel Vanity Box

$795.00

This is a very beautiful antique French porcelain jewel casket. It is Circa 1890 and is in shades of pale yellow and salmon pink color. On the top of the cover is a lovely scene of two lovers getting into a floral bedecked boat on a pond with a swan in attendance. In the background is a large gathering of onlookers. It would appear that this scene is a ceremony from a Royal Wedding. Around the top of the hinged cover is an ornate design with applied ruby colored glass jewels. The bottom front of the box also has the same jeweled detailed design with the portrait of a lovely young royal French woman in the center, possibly Marie Antoinette. The box is fitted on a beautiful intricate brass footed base. The hinged cover closes crisp and clean. This is quite a large size measuring 6 3/8 inches tall and 5 inches at the widest part. This box is in exceptional condition showing normal wear and patina to the brass fittings. This is an heirloom piece which should be cherished and handed down with time.
