Antique Dated 1896 Signed Royal Dux Mother & Child Figurine
This is a beautiful and large Royal Dux figurine. Dux porcelain started in 1860 in Bohemia and is referred to as Royal Dux. All Genuine Royal Dux pieces will have Royal Dux Bohemia in lettering that appears around an oval shape in the center of a triangle. From 1860 to 1919 WW1, this mark with the E was used. The E is is impressed in the center of the triangle and represents Eichler which was the founder's surname. This piece also has the incised date, 1896. Everything about this figurine is quality and it is a massive size at 19 3/4 inches tall and 9 1/2 inches across the base. The subject matter is very intimate with a loving mother gazing at her daughter with total love in her expression. The daughter is reaching up with her arm around her mother's neck and the mother is touching the young girl's hair with their other arms entwined. The colors are amazing and subtle. The young daughter's dress has an exquisite bow at the side and both dresses flow with movement. This lovely piece is titled " SOUVIENS TOI " and weighs an amazing 9 pounds.
