Antique Figural Bronze Sgn. Jean Jules Salmson
This is a handsome, very detailed Victorian bronze signed Jean Jules Salmson, ( 1823 - 1902 ). He lived in France and this exceptional example of his work is a figure of an 18th century scholar. He is standing in a stately pose with one hand in his pocket and a satchel under his other arm. Salmson went to great lengths to create this piece with attention to the smallest details. The figure stands 11 3/4 inches to the tallest part of the hat by 5 inches at the widest point. The bronze has the artists signature on the base and is in excellent original condition with a beautiful original bronze patina. This is an exquisite work of art from an elegant bygone era.
