$4,995.00

This is an exceptional museum quality English Victorian sterling silver lidded pitcher. It is heavily embellished with an overall repousse design depicting a floral motif between ribboned garlands. In the center and back of the pitcher along with the front of the handle is a Northwind head. This is a lidded pitcher with a beautiful spout. The handle is also highly ornamented with a raised design. Engraved on the front in Latin is the phrase " Virtus Sola Nobilitas " which translates to "Virtue Alone Is True Nobility." This magnificent pitcher is fully hallmarked on the neck, however we have been unable to identify the maker, please refer to the photos. The pitcher measures 13 1/2 inches to the top of the finial and 7 inches from the spout to the handle. The pitcher weighs approximately 37.48 troy ounces and is in excellent original condition with the exception of a very small and insignificant dent on the side which we were unable to photograph. The silversmith who created this work of art was a true master artisan. This is a very fine example from an elegant bygone era.
