Circa 1880 Intricate Victorian Walnut Sewing Egg

$295.00

This is a rare example of a Victorian sewing egg. It is Circa 1880 and was painstakingly carved in what we believe to be walnut or two exotic wood pieces as each half is a different color. It unscrews in the middle and there are all individual holes carved into the design on both sides. The thread would go inside and thru one of the holes and then the egg would be screwed back together. This would sit on the sewing table. This piece is in excellent condition and measures 2 inches in length and 1 1/2 inches wide. This rare piece is a fine and interesting example of antique Victorian sewing memorabilia from an elegant bygone era.
