Circa 1890 Art Nouveau Picture Frame
This is a very beautiful Art Nouveau picture or photo frame. It was purchased by a traveling family in Rome in the 1930's. It is circa 1890/1900. The base metal easel back frame has a flowing Art Nouveau form embellished with dimensional brass raised designs.. At the top is a detailed hummingbird approaching a bee in flight. On each side of the photo is a female mailden engulfed in a floral garland each of which is different in design and at the bottom of the photo is a large winged dragonfly.. The frame measures 11 1/4 inches tall by 9 inches at the widest part of the design. The photo area measures 3 1/4 by 5 1/2. This frame has an easel back and retains the original patina and finish. This is a beautiful example from an elegant bygone Art Nouveau Era.
