Circa 1890 Nippon Floral Painted Pitcher
This is a very beautiful example of early Nippon from a private collection. It is a large handled pitcher decorated with a hand painted floral motif. The design is accented with an overall raised and beaded gold decor and has green enameled jewels in the center of each section of the gold garlands in the design. The pitcher measures 8 1/4 inches to the top of the spout and 8 1/4 inches from the spout to the widest part of the handle. The pitcher is Circa 1890's and is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. It does show wear to the gold on the handle where most of the gold has worn off and minor wear to the gold along the top rim. This is to be expected with a hand painted piece of this age however it in no way detracts from the piece and this is an excellent example of Nippon from an elegant bygone era.
