Transitional Victorian - Art Nouveau Vase With Bird Motif

$1,295.00

This vase is Circa 1880 and a beautiful example of the transitional period between the Victorian and Art Nouveau Era. It is a porcelain vase with a hand painted bird with outstretched wings landing on a floral background. The coloring and artist work on the vase is amazing. The vase has an unusual cone shape with a scalloped rim and is secured in an ornate metal armature. The armature has tripod shaped legs with a bamboo motif. One leg curves around the side of the vase with a metal bird perched on it with outstretched wings facing the painted bird on the vase. The condition is excellent, showing only wear to the yellow/gold paint on the scalloped rim, please refer to photos. The vase stands 10 inches to the top back legs of the metal armature, and 4 1/2 inches from the outstretched wing of the metal bird to the leg on the opposite side. This vase has been in my personal collection for over 35 years, and it is now time for it to have a new home. This is a special representative piece from an elegant bygone era.
