Victorian Era Ornate Bronze Gargoyle Inkwell
This is another fine Victorian Era inkwell we obtained from an important private collection. This is a very interesting piece. It portrays a devilishly whimsical face. The detail is great. It is a man with a mustache and a wide collar typical of 17th century court jesters. His eyes are wide and his mouth is open with hysterical laughter. We’re not quite sure if he is a gargoyle or court jester. Either way, it is a fascinating vintage inkwell. It has a footed base and weighs 2 lbs. and measures 3 inches tall by 4 inches wide and 5 ½ inches deep. This inkwell retains a beautiful bronze patina and displays well showing a lot of character.
