This is a fantastic Circa 1880 Victorian two piece desk set. It consists of a beautiful bronze inkwell with the original insert and the matching pen rest. The inkwell is 8 inches wide, 5 inches to the top of the lid and 6 1/2 inches deep. The pen holder is 8 inches wide, 2 inches to the top of the pen holder and 6 inches deep. Each are heavily embellished with an ornate design with a North Wind head in the center of each stand. What is very unique about this set are porcelain hand painted trays in the center of each tray depicting two attractive Victorian Ladies. These are original to the set and may have been portraits of family members. The porcelain trays are removable and are original to the set. It is rare to find both matching pieces from this era in excellent original condition. They would be very beautiful on a desk and are fine examples from an elegant bygone era.
